“Morris Animal Inn in Morristown, NJ is a very well run, wonderfully staffed and multifunctional pet respite. They screen pets carefully, know your pet’s likes and dislikes. MAI is flexible for us as pet parents. They offer social groups of similar size and personality dogs, have close circuit observation for off hours boarding as well as appropriate detectors and generators. For my recent adult rescue they are helping to socialize her, soft train her and offer bathing and grooming. It’s very reassuring and supportive. You can call for an update any time. We have used all of the above services.”
Feeding Details
Prefer to stick with what your dog already eats? Pack their usual food in pre-measured portions for the length of the stay and we’ll serve it just like you would at home. If you’d rather they eat what we provide, our kitchen keeps a rotation of dry and canned options that our veterinary team has signed off on for taste and digestibility. Got a dog on a specific schedule or diet? Flag it for our team and we’ll build it into their stay for a small add-on fee.
One thing first-time boarders don’t expect: appetite dips on day one. We suggest a lighter breakfast the morning you drop off, since check-in excitement can throw a dog off its usual routine. The same logic applies in reverse at pickup — hold off on a full meal and fresh water for a few hours once you’re home, so your dog has time to settle before eating normally again.
Yappy Hour!
Around 5 PM daily, the whole crew gets a treat: it’s Yappy Hour, our way of capping off a day of play. Picky eater or has a sensitivity? Mention it at check-in and we’ll set aside something that works.
Special Needs and Senior Care
Seniors and dogs with extra needs get individualized attention here, not a one-size-fits-all routine. Our Warren team has plenty of experience adapting stays for Long Hill-area guests — just tell us what your dog needs when you book, and it becomes part of their plan for the whole visit, including:
- Gentle, patient handling tailored to your dog’s comfort level
- A custom feeding schedule, with extra sittings if your dog needs them
- Meals prepared to a specific recipe or dietary restriction
- Oral medications given on schedule (no injections)
- Nutritional supplements worked into mealtime
- Any ongoing medical routine your vet has set up
- Your dog’s own food served exactly as you would at home
- Water from home, if that’s what your dog is used to
- A favorite treat from home, saved for the right moment
Vaccination Requirements for Boarding Near Long Hill, NJ
Before your dog’s first stay, we’ll need proof of vaccination on file — have your veterinarian send it over ahead of arrival. This isn’t just paperwork: keeping every guest current is what keeps the whole building safe. Here’s what’s required:
- Rabies
- Distemper/Parvo Virus
- Bordetella
- Canine Influenza H3N8
- Canine Influenza H3N2
- Coronavirus (optional, but we recommend it)*
One timing note: any vaccine your dog is due for should be updated at least 10 days before check-in, since it takes that long to become fully effective. Coronavirus isn’t on the required list, but it doesn’t hurt to ask your vet if it’s a good fit for your dog.
Health & Safety Come First at Every Stay
There’s a licensed veterinarian on call every hour your dog is with us, not just during business hours. If anything comes up, we try your regular vet first — and if they’re not reachable, our on-call vet takes it from there without delay. Our staff also handles oral and topical medications day to day, so a dog on an ongoing treatment doesn’t miss a dose just because they’re boarding. That level of oversight comes from our Pet Wellness Department, whose whole job near Long Hill is watching over each guest’s health and comfort for the length of their stay.

About Long Hill, NJ
Long Hill Township sits right along the Passaic River, bordered by the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. It’s the kind of area where dog owners actually use their yards and trails, whether that’s a walk near Stirling Lake, a visit to the Great Swamp, or just a loop through one of the neighborhood parks in Meyersville or Homestead Park. It’s no surprise so many Long Hill dogs spend their weekends outdoors rather than cooped up inside. Add in a quick train ride from the Gladstone Branch stations in Millington, Stirling, or Gillette, and it’s easy to see why pet parents here expect a boarding option that keeps pace with that active lifestyle.
That local, active pace is part of why so many Long Hill pet parents choose Morris Animal Inn at Warren for boarding. We’re close enough that dropping off and picking up doesn’t eat into your day, and our team already knows the rhythm of this community — many of our regular guests come from just down the road.
