“Morris Animal Inn in Morristown, NJ is a very well run, wonderfully staffed and multifunctional pet respite. They screen pets carefully, know your pet’s likes and dislikes. MAI is flexible for us as pet parents. They offer social groups of similar size and personality dogs, have close circuit observation for off hours boarding as well as appropriate detectors and generators. For my recent adult rescue they are helping to socialize her, soft train her and offer bathing and grooming. It’s very reassuring and supportive. You can call for an update any time. We have used all of the above services.”
Feeding Details
Dogs boarding with us from Fanwood get meals selected with taste and digestion both in mind. We keep a rotating stock of dry and canned food on hand, and you’re always free to send your dog’s regular food along, pre-measured for the stay. If your dog has a particular routine or a dietary restriction, tell our team ahead of time — we’re happy to work with it for a modest add-on fee.
One tip from our staff: on check-in day, offer a lighter-than-normal portion, since the excitement of a new place can dull appetite. Once your dog is home again, wait a few hours before offering a regular meal and water — it gives them time to settle back into their usual routine.
Yappy Hour!
Each day around 5 PM, guests get a treat break we call Yappy Hour — a fun way to cap off a day of activity. Dogs with food allergies or preferences should be flagged at check-in so we can choose a treat that’s right for them.

- Administering oral medications (no injections)
- Preparing a specialized meal plan
- Extra feeding times as needed
- Administering supplements

Vaccination Requirements for Boarding Near Fanwood, NJ
Before your dog’s first stay, we require current vaccinations — this is what keeps things safe for every guest here. Ask your vet to send proof of vaccination ahead of arrival. Required vaccines:
- Rabies
- Distemper/Parvo Virus
- Bordetella
- Canine Influenza H3N8
- Canine Influenza H3N2
- Coronavirus (optional, but recommended)*
Coronavirus vaccination isn’t mandatory, but it’s a good question to raise with your vet. Any vaccine given recently should be completed at least 10 days before your dog checks in, so it has time to fully take effect.
Around-the-Clock Wellness Support
Leaving your dog with us near Fanwood means leaving them with a team that’s ready for anything. Our Pet Wellness Department watches over every guest’s health and comfort for the length of their stay.
A licensed veterinarian is reachable 24/7. Should anything arise, we contact your regular vet first — if they’re unreachable and your dog needs care right away, our on-call vet takes over. Staff are trained in both oral and topical medication administration, so any ongoing treatment continues without a gap.

About Fanwood, NJ
Fanwood is a small, walkable borough anchored by the historic LeCount Square district near the train station, and it has real options for dog owners — the 24-acre Fanwood Nature Center off Cray Terrace has shaded trails for an easy morning walk, and Forest Road Park gives dogs room to stretch their legs closer to home. A short drive puts you at the dog run at Echo Lake Park, too, so weekends here tend to revolve around getting outside with the dog, not around it.
That same outdoor-first mindset is a big reason Fanwood pet parents book with Morris Animal Inn at Warren. We’re close enough that a boarding stay doesn’t turn into a full-day errand, and our team has come to know plenty of regulars who live just a few minutes down the road.
