AprilAire Healthy Air System
Our facilities are equipped with the AprilAire Healthy Air system. Professionally installed and maintained by Northern New Jersey’s trusted HVAC specialists Harmony Heating & Air Conditioning, this whole-facility solution manages humidity, ventilation, filtration, and temperature simultaneously to create an environment where pets stay healthier and more comfortable.

We also use Aerapy Animal Health UV-C disinfection technology, one of the most advanced pathogen-elimination systems available for animal care facilities.
- Neutralizes at the Source: UV-C light deactivates airborne mold, viruses, bacteria, and other harmful microorganisms before they can circulate throughout the indoor environment.
- Targets Canine Illnesses: Designed to help reduce airborne pathogens associated with respiratory illnesses such as kennel cough and canine influenza, which can spread in shared pet care environments.
- Minimizes Airborne Allergens: UV-C light helps to reduce airborne allergens, respiratory irritants, and bacteria before they have a chance to spread infections between guests.

Supporting Evidence
University Study: Conducted by the University of Arizona’s College of Public Health, Environment, Exposure Science & Risk Assessment Center, this study found that Aerapy Animal Health’s UV system reduced airborne concentrations of pathogenic surrogate and vaccine strains up to 99.96%. Tested pathogens included Bacteriophage MS2 and Bordetella bronchiseptica. Published in the American Journal of Veterinary Research.
Field Study: A team of veterinarians conducted a three-year retrospective observational field trial in the kitten nursery of the Arizona Humane Society using Aerapy Animal Health’s Zone360 upper-air UV system. Researchers found that upper respiratory infections decreased by 87.1% when the UV air disinfection systems were operated continuously. Our facilities are equipped with monitored alarms, fire suppression systems, secure access controls, climate monitoring, and established emergency response protocols designed to detect issues immediately and trigger rapid response when necessary.
Emergency Monitoring & Response
Our fire alarm systems connect to an off-site central station for continuous 24-hour signal monitoring by a professional security team. Mass notification and broadcast systems communicate critical information in real time, sending immediate alerts to local emergency personnel — police, fire, and EMS. We conduct regular training sessions with local police and fire agencies to ensure full familiarity with our facility layout and evacuation plans.
Recent Fire Protection Upgrades
Recent upgrades to our fire protection systems include a hard-wired digital alarm panel that immediately identifies the specific location and alarm type when triggered, enabling faster response to the affected area. Photoelectric smoke detectors use light-sensing technology to detect smoke or sudden temperature increases. When smoke is detected, our sophisticated air-handling system automatically shuts down fresh-air circulation to the affected area to prevent the spread of smoke throughout the facility.
A note on overnight care: Dogs sleep best when their environment is calm and undisturbed. Continuous overnight foot traffic can increase stress, disrupt sleep, and cause unnecessary stimulation. At Morris Animal Inn, pets are allowed to rest quietly while comprehensive safety systems remain fully active — so both you and your pet can sleep soundly.
